The Roles of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission in the Petroleum Industry Under the Petroleum Industry Act

The need to cushion the cumbersome activities in the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) with respect to the upstream, midstream and downstream sectors of the petroleum industry prompted the Nigerian legislature to introduce reforms in the petroleum industry which led to the enactment of the Petroleum Industry Act 2021. Thus, the need for the creation of the Nigerian upstream petroleum regulatory commission was considered. This work focused on the roles of the upstream petroleum regulatory commission in regard to the Petroleum Industry in Nigeria and the special functions the commission set to carried out. Then,
conclusion and possible recommendations were discussed for the betterment of the Nigerian economy and the society at large.
